In 2018 I wrote a song about a friend who is now a tree. I then spent the next few years trying to record it. In 2022 it was completed.
lyrics
Ashen snow
In a winter daze
You know this place
Yes I’ve been here
I don’t recall
But I know its true
I read it one day
I saw it on the news
The way it read
Like a picture book
The image is black
The signal is lost
I can not tell
What it means to you
But when we’re all gone
I know that its due
To take a ride
Where this rumor ends
Where it will stop
Since I can’t begin
How to say
I know you’re here
Waiting for us
To all come home
All the rain is gone tomorrow
Ten long years have passed I am growing old
And you are sprouting little leaves
In the night
In the night summer winds are blowin'
I can hear your little leaves
And the kids
And the kids play in the blooms
Of your spring time little leaves
Got a call
But who are you
Got all my hands
Buried in the wood
I couldn’t fly
Across the blue
My vision is iced
I always feel you
Absence lost
I won’t forget
The fungus is sprout
This never ends
We cannot rest
In my endless REMs
Hookshot stars in splintered stares
All the names
In the granite stand
Once a year
We all turn our back
Shed a light
Made Into our glares
In a visions night
Can I take it back
All the rain is gone tomorrow
Ten long years have passed I am growing old
And you are sprouting little leaves
In the night
In the night summer winds are blown
I can hear your little leaves
And the kids
And the kids play in the blooms
Of your spring time little leaves
Calling out for a sensible cure
Who are you to stake this post
I am sorry if you think that I’m cold
It’s just my mourning isn’t made digital
Do you see me in a shadow are you calling me
Implanting false recalls memory
Across the wisped top snow symmetry
All the dreams are just ghost memories
And all the rain is gone tomorrow
Ten long years have passed I am growing old
And you are sprouting little leaves
In the night
In the night summer winds are blown
I can hear your little leaves
And the kids
And the kids play in the blooms
Of your spring time little leaves
Revolution nights
Revolutions play our song
The anthem made of little leaves
Wave this flag
Wave it to call you home
It's Made of your little leaves.
